In his new exhibition, "Parallel Palettes", acclaimed Swiss painter Frank Fischer pays homage to five of his favourite painters from five different, Copenhagen-based galleries; namely John Kørner, Krista Rosenkilde, Erik A. Frandsen, Clare Woods, and the late John Copeland.
As always, Swiss painter Frank Fischer bases his works on those of existing artists: The colour scheme of each individual painting is deciphered and reproduced in Fischer’s meticulous drip-painting technique, so that the finished work becomes a representation of the original, a paraphrase or an homage, if you will. In the past, Fischer has exhibited exclusive series tracing the steps of artists such as Cy Twombly, Michael Craig-Martin and Emil Nolde. This time around, Fischer has decided to study the works of 5 distinctive painterly voices from five different Copenhagen-based galleries. The result is an intimate exhibition containing 10 paintings; two by each artist.
”Parallel Palettes” opens Friday September 18 with a reception from 5 to 8 pm. The show will be on view through October 17.
