PER M. ABRAHAMSEN, Denmark

Per Morten Abrahamsen (b. 1957) is a Danish photographer, living and working in Copenhagen.

In the last 20 years Per Morten Abrahamsen has established himself as one of the most prominent photographers in Denmark. Starting out in advertising and fashion, he quickly moved on to staged photography with emphasis on portraiture for which he is well known today.

Continuing to push the boundaries of possibility within his medium, Abrahamsen creates fantastically staged manifests of his subjects whether it be his stern and descriptive portraits or the ballet dancers of the Royal Danish Ballet, mid-plie.

Abrahamsen conveys complex storytelling with an initially humorous spin but simultaneously disturbing atmosphere.

He has held major solo exhibitions at The National Museum of Photography, Copenhagen, AroS Museum, Aarhus, and FNAC, Marseille as well as many other galleries and museums nationally and internationally.
